  1. The site of one of those Hedge Schools still remains in this locality. It is situated about ¼ mile from Castle Kelly cross, on the road to Goresbridge. Nothing now remains but the small paddock and an old cherry tree. There was a little hut where the scholars sought shelter when the weather was too cold or wet but the old people say that the old cherry tree was mostly used as shelter. Philip Meaney was the last master taught here and the place is called Philip's House to the present day.
