- Breakfast Interlude
Old Sam Pollock was a bachelor farmer.
One morning he was having his breakfast with his "Boy" Jemmy. Old Sam was somewhat fastidious about his meals. He always had a boiled duck egg, while it was seldom that Jemmy was treated to such a delicacy. Jemmy became rather discontented; so one morning when old Sam was saying grace, the former slipped the duck egg to his own plate and commenced eating it.
When Sam had finished saying grace he waxed indignant about his egg. Jemmy paused in the act of putting the last spoonful of the contents of the green shell in his mouth, and looking coolly at his employer, remarked :- "Take it aisy owl man, there's wan thing ye've got to larn an' that ye must watch as well as pray".
