- Long ago people started to wear boots at twenty years of age. There was one woman in our district who never wore boots. Her name was Biddy Larkin. She had the pension.Children go barefoot in the summer. It is said that you should not throw out feet water too late. There is no beliefs connected with it.Boots are made and repaired locally. There are two shoemakers in our district. This has been a tradition in their families. There are more shoe-makers nowadays than long ago.Clogs were made and worn locally about thirty years ago.
