- There is a number of forts around the district in which I live. The names of these forts are Martin's fort, Dowd's fort and Coyle's fort.
There is a circular ditch around the forts. There is a gap into the fort.
Once upon a time there was a tree in the middle of the fort. The owner, who was named Bernard Martin, rooted out the tree and he planted it over at the ditch. In the morning when he rose the tree was in the same place where it grew.
Long ago the fairies used to come and sing, and dance and play music at night.
People who owned the fort never interfered with them.
There are lights seen around these forts sometimes.
If you went near them at night the people say you would hear music inside.- Collector
