    Then there was a man named Sheridan, he lived in Carrowfaden, and he used to teach, but he had only seven pupils, and it was in his own house he taught them. We don't know what subjects he taught, but they used slate and slate pencils also. There was a barn in Rathlee, and another teacher taught there, we don't know his name, but all the children of the place went to that school to be taught. That is all the information we have of any old schools that existed before the national schools were established here.
