“The Wiles were the first inhabitants of Derrymore.”
(continued from previous page)man had three sons, James, Garrett and Martin. James got a farm on the east side of Derrymore river where Maurice Sayers is now. Garrett got a farm on the west side of Derrymore river. Garrett died and the Quirkes got it. Martin bought a farm from James Wiles for five pounds and the Wiles man went to America.
His son Martin Sayers has the farm now. The Connors came to live near Derrymore Mill and they also worked in it. About sixty four years ago the land was divided by Denny and strangers are coming to live in Derrymore ever since.- Collector
