    Then people also lived by the flax. This was grown by the seed on ridges for months. Then it was pulled and left on the ridges to save. Then it was "pulled" after being bleached for a few days. Then it was pure white and it was cloved with a cloving tongs. The it was spun with the wheel, especially during the nights and made into balls of thread. Then it was taken to the mill where clothes were made from it.
