In olden times there were very few doctors and people used what was known as "Local remedies" For an ordinary cold they used "buttermilk whey" and for pneumonia you were poulticed with linseed or flax seed poultice. For skin diseases you used dandelion or nettle-wine. This was made by boiling either, or both together in a saucepan and drinking the liquid. Ringworm was cured by applying either whiskey or pariffin oil. Boils were cured by mixing equal quantities of
