    In football the ball was never caught by the hands as it is at present, but either kicked or fisted and the only score was a goal.
    The hurling-ball was made from worsted thread and covered with some kind of light leather, and hurling was played nearly the same way as it is at the present time.
    There were many popular football and hurling fields in this district at that time. A field at present owned by Redmond Blighe, Carenderry was very popular and many great local games were played there.
