   If a child in the district gets the mumps Maggie Bonnelly makes the cure. She has the cure because her mother’s maiden name was Connelly. She puts a pair of winkers [?] over the head of the patient and leads her (or him) to a spring well. Three times she dips a porringer [?] in the well and each time gives it to the patient who drinks the water and says three times “in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy ghost”.
