   Another great game was when we were. young girls was to get nine Ivy leaves and place them under the pillow going to bed and say these words at the same time:
   "I place Nine Ivy Leaves under the bed
   To dream of the living and not of the dead
   But to dream of the man I'm going to wed
   And to see him to night at the foot of my bed."

   Another trick we had was this. To peel an apple whole - that is to bring all the skin off in wan piece - and throw it over the right shoulder; and the skin would fall forming the initial of your future husband, or wife as the case might be.
