  1. In olden times people used to make candles. First of all the people would pull very long rushes and peel them and they would melt some fat in a tin and they would plat three or four rushes together and while doing so they would be dipping them into the fat. When they had a good coat of fat soaked they were left in a cool place to dry and they got stiff and were just like the candles we have
