    Long ago if a child went visiting from his own house to another house, when he was leaving a burned coal or a piece of iron was put into his pocket for fear the fairies would bring him or her, as it was said they used to do, and they brought fine cattle, and left bony thin ones in their places.
    When (the) cattle were driven into a field where a fort was the owner would tie a piece of red string on their tails for fear they would be brought by the fairies.
