  1. Fairs.
Long ago there was only one fair held in Nermarket. It was held on the 20th of December. There are a lot more held now, but they are small fairs. The largest of them all is held on the 20th December.
There is a square of ground in front of the Chapel, where the fairs are held. It is called the fair-green. They also sell the cattle around the street, because the fair-green is not large enough.
Cattle and sheep are sold at the fairs in Newmarket. There are no pigs or horses sold.
