a hedge school in Flag-Mount. They used to pay their teacher by giving him a couple of pence every week. She did not know who the teachers name was. They got a half an hour recreation in the middle of the day. They had no play ground, but the road. The name of the game they had was Duckie-up.
Maura O'Brian told us that her father told her that he went to school in Flag-Mount. The school is not there now. It is knocked down. He told her he had to walk five miles to school every day. He had to cross mountains and rivers. Sometimes the rivers were flooded and he had to go by a road which was about two miles around. The teachers name was Mr. Ryan. He lives in Cahir at present.
