  1. In the parish of Scariff in a village called Loughisle lived a man named Michael Dillion about fifty years ago.
    When going to his work one morning he came upon a rat and a weasel in a struggle to the death. On trying to rescue the (rat) weasel he placed his foot on the rat's back. The rat turned around and bit him on the ankle. But he succeeded in rescueing the weasel. After a couple of days the wound turned septic and he was at death's door. Every morning the weasel came to the front door while he lay ill in bed.
    It happened one day that a travelling woman named Mrs Scott came the way. When she heard the story and the circumstances they were in : She told them
