Long ago people never bought anything they could possibly make themselvesThey used make their own candles from tallow. They would not buy the tallow, but they would kill a goat or a sheep and with the fat of the animal they would make the candle.In every house there was a mould used for the making of the candles. It was the same as a pump and through the middle they used put a cotton tape. They would melt the fat and put it into the mould to cool it and it turned out a long thick candle.
