  1. From his congregation in Broadford Parish,
    A Saintly Priest has been called away-
    He was Father O'Gorman, and night and morning.
    For his people's welfare he used to pray.
    The death bell peeling over hill and sheeling,
    The people mourning, deep sighs they gave,
    And with pious feeling, heads bent and kneeling,
    They prayed and wept over the good priest's grave.
    He was kind and gentle, he was sweet and simple,
    And open-hearted to all came the way;
    With the greatest pleasure he gave all a measure,
    He was sweet as Manna to the waif and stray.
    He detested riches and golden treasure:
    To such pleasure he was no slave,
    His purse was open to the broken-hearted -
    They now will weep over the good priest's grave.
