    They used to eat flomery dumplins, fish and they used to drink black tea as there were no leave for milk or sugar at that time.
    Certain customs were attached to feast days such as beef on Christmas Day, pancakes on Shrove Tuesday, and eggs on Easter Sundday.
    Tea was first used in the district nearly a hundred years ago. The vessels that people used before cups became common were naggins which were made of wood with a small handle attched to it, tin saucepans were also used and often jampots.
