  1. My forefathers lived in a thatched house in Uragh. The straw was got when the oats was thrased. The fireplace was a hearth and they burned turf with blue clay mixed through it. They had a chimney with all wattles round two trees up to the top and they had two small windows on it one on the front and one on the back. There generally were two rooms in the house one with a fireplace and the other two beds in it. They had a settle bed for the servant in the kitchen and it was all made of wood.
