  1. Long ago school was taught in little cabins or in the teachers house.
    At that time a hedge school master lived in the townland of Carricknamadoo, Kilinkere. He taught school in a little mudwall house.
    The children did their composition and Arithmetic on slates with slate pencils.
    It was mostly English that was taught and the names of the
