The boys all gather together on St. Stephen's day and blacken their faces with polish, put straw on their backs and turn their coats inside out and go round from house to house making music with tambourines and French Fiddles, when they have all gathered together, they go to the town and buy cigarettes and buns.
    May Day.
    On May Day the old people used to get up early in the morning to guard the cows and and not let the fairies milk them. If the fairies milked the cows on May morning they wouldnt give the full amount of milk for that season. In this locality some of the farmers get a bush and decorate it with May flowers and put it in the dunkle.
    St. Patrick's Day
    On St. Patrick's day everybody wears a shamrock and after mass they go to a hurling match or a football match, and in the evening the people go to the pictures and the dances.
    Easter Sunday.
    Some days before Easter the children gather eggs in gallons and light a bonfire in a
