  1. The weeks before the Lent and Advent is the time when marriages mostly occur in our district.
    Tuesday is thought an unlucky day for a marriage. In the middle-class people, dowrys are still given to the bride.
    The straw boys gather in crowds to the bride's house, they usually get money or beer.
    About thirty years or more ago it was very common for some of the guests to race from the Church to the bride's house to see who would reach first and he got a pint of whiskey.
