  1. One morning a man went to a field to see would he catch a fairy so that he could get a pot of gold from him. He caught him three mornings and asked him for the pot of gold. The fairy told him it would be under a thistle with a red ribbon on it in that field the next morning. When the man went out the next morning every thistle in the field had a red ribbon.
    That meant that he should labour the field and sell the crop and get the worth of the gold for it.
    Another time a poor shoemaker who wanted to be rich went out and caught a fairy and asked him for a pot of gold
