  1. One time there lived a man in the townland of Drumbrucklis and he was very fond of going to the town of Killnaleck for meat every week. One day he went to the town with an ass and cart. He was late coming home and everyone was gone to bed only in one house in Balladuff. When he saw the light he went into the house.
    When he went in there was a woman dead and the people were all smoking clay pipes. Then they sent for a quarter barrel of porter to Killnaleck.
