   There are three forges in Upper Lavey. The names of the smiths are, Terence Smith, Patrick McHugh, and Thomas Galligan. All these men learned from their fathers. Terence Smith's forge is along the "Broad Road', so that it is easy to get to. Patrick McHugh's forge is along a back road, and Thomas Galligan's forge is in the heart of the country. Long ago there was a forge at Patrick Brady's, Graughnagee. While working in this forge Pat Brady, now about one year dead-drove a nail through his knee, and he had to walk with a stick afterwards. Terence Smith's forge has a thatched roof with an old 'creamery can" as a chimney to let out the smoke. Inside in the forge there is a fireplace with coal burning in it,
