- The 'thistle' is the most harmful weed in the farm. It spoils the crop if it is not pulled.
'Thistles' are hard to get rid of because of their sharp thorns. They are very destructful on grazing land as cattle do not eat them except they are cut in June. Cattle will then eat them after three days.
If the thistles are not destroyed in time, the seed falls and is sown for the next year.
Most herbs grow on rich soil. The 'chicken weed' is generally got in the cabbage garden. It is said there is a cure in every one of its joints.
