    along with him. She said she would and was delighted. They walked home until they came near her house an' suddenly when she looked around at her friend what did she see but the divil himself. She was very frightened, and shouted loud for her mother an' father. She rushed to her own door but it was bolted against her. She knocked hard but got no answer.
    The divil only laughed at her and said "Sure you father wished me to take ye an' you agreed to marry me yourself so I'll take ye now to my own house".
