    Elton House:- This was a boarding and day school (called locally "The Charter School)
    About 1846 the head of the school was William Heatly of Lamberton.
    Incorporated Society's School was held in the Chapel Lane (now St. Mary Tce.)
    Charles McDowel was the master.
    Upwards of 100 boys got a good English Scriptural Education here and Admiral Proby gave the school free of rent.
    National School situated as at present was conducted by Patrick Lyons and Catherine Tobin.
    1846 Schools supported by Miss Proby Female school Chapel Lane Fanny Bates Mistress.
    Female school near Glenart Castle Lucy Dillon Mistress.
