    portions of the walls of this building (burnt by the "Irregulars" in 1922) are regarded as those of the original cells of St. Rynagh's nuns.
    Whether the Church (whose ruins are still to be seen in the old cemetery in the middle of the town of Banagher) was built before St. Rynagh established her nunnery, or whether it was founded so as to afford her & her community spiritual helps, cannot now be ascertained. It looks as if the Church must have been established first, for it is hardly likely that a Catholic would do without Sunday's Mass or would wish her nuns to travel a great distance to a Church. As a matter of fact Rynagh's love of retirement is shown by the local tradition that there was an underground
