  1. There are about ten acres of potatoes on our farm, There are three acres of Arn Pilot, three acres of Gladstones, three acres of Arn Banners and about one acre of Skerry Champions.
    The ground in which the potatoes are sown had to be ploughed first. Then it was disc harrowed and cultivated a couple of time. A tractor pulls these implements and more work can be done in a day with a tractor than with horses.
    When the land is tilled, a pair of horses pull a double-breasted plough which opens drills. The big potatoes are cut in several bit to make more seed.
