  1. The local Saint of this locality is St. Manchan.
    He lived in a place called Leamonghan which is situated midway between Clara and Ferbane.
    He had a wonderful cow which supplied all the people of the district with milk, but no one was allowed to sell it.
    The tracks of her feet are still to be seen in the rocks at Leamonghan. St Manchan's Shrine which is in Boher Chapel is said to contain his bones. St Manchan's Day which is on the 24th of January is kept a holiday in this district.
