  1. Below Ballybrittas which is situated about seven miles from Portatlington stands a place called the "Burned House": It was once a huge estate owned by a man named Jack O'Dare. He had no claim to this land but took it from the people from that neighbourhood during the Penal Days. He also made these people draw stones and sand for the building of his house which is now a ruin. When the house was finished it was very beautiful and was surrounded by acres of lawn on which were
