- (continued from previous page)Another version adds:- The spot where the priest's head struck the road is marked by a sod cut out of the bank. The hedge is trimmed every year at the place by the neighbors. About ten yards of the hedge is clipped. To look at it you would think there are three little rooms in it. In the center of the middle room is a holly tree which never grows. Some people come to see the place to cure tooth-aches and head-aches.
It was not known where he was buried until they were putting up the new altar in Clonbullogue Chapel. When they were digging for the foundation they found two graves. The priests of the parish house found out from some of the old people who the two graves belonged to. One belonged to Father Kelly and the other belonged to Fr Darcy who was killed near Augameelick Cross. Those two priests are now buried under the new altar in Clonbullogue Chapel.
