  1. Bread
In olden times the people used eat Rye cakes, Oat cakes, wheaten and potato cakes. When the rye would be thrashed some of it would be kept and cleaned at home. When this would be done it would be mixed up with a fist-ful of flour. The same would be done with the oat cake and wheat, but there would be little flour put with the wheat and sometimes none at all. For Christmas there would be a currant cake made and the same for Easter Sunday. The cakes used be baked on heated flags and when one side would be cooked it would be turned and when it would be cooked it would be taken up and the flags would be taken up washed and left out to air.
