    the substance of the handle of our present day hay-fork, with a head and neck on one end. The strip pf horse skin was fastened around this neck in a way which would not allow it to tighten. There was a certain method of making this gad, only known to those that were in the habit of doing so. It was considered an art to be able to make a proper one. In course of the work it used to twist around freely on its neck. It was past around the buailtán.
