  1. Local place names written by Daisy Downes age 12.
Long ago all the acres of land and big farms were divided up into little farms consisting of two or three acres and now the fields take their names from these or if there was a lot of bushes in a field they took their name from those. There is a field near here called "Jacobs field" there must have been a family called Jacobs living there sometime long ago. There is another field called Knockdilly. It has a lot of bushes in it, another field is called "the sheepwalk" as it is used for sheep. We have several fields called "raheen" around here. They were old burying places long ago.
