- The older generations were far healthier than the present generation the reason is that the older generation never ate bread that crossed a counter. They used to make all their own bread.
They used to make the bread with flour and milk and when they had the cake ready they would put it in a pot oven which is a big round pan with a lid on it and pile burning turf on top of it.
