    A sensational shipwreck aroused the interest and sympathy of the people of Wexford.
    In the year 1782 Several fisher-men, tempted at the though of a rich harvest, decided to cast out their nets ignoring the tradition of the countryside which was no one should go fishing on Saint Martin's Eve.
    But tempted by a great shoal of fish, they set out.
    When they had gone some distance out to sea, Saint Martin appeared mounted on a white horse, and beckoned to them to return.
    Some took heed of the warning and turned back while other went back on. A
