  1. The old people knew when a change in the weather was approaching, by the sky and the wind.
When the wind was up we were going to have sleet and snow. The wind from the south brought mild soft weather but wet.
The wind from the east brought rough weather which was not good for man or beast, and the west wind brought rain.
Sparks on the pot foretold a war between different parties.
