    the others. Hop - scotch can be played by two children with a hopping ball. Hand - ball is played by two persons by hitting a ball with your hand against the wall. Prison is played by a number of children acting as criminals and another number catching them. Bell - horse is played by two children skipping along together.
    In the winter nights a lot of games are played by the hearth such as: rings, playing cards, ludo, snakes - and - ladders.
    Girls play hop - scotch, bell horse, little dog, spring-sally-water, ludo, nuts - in - May, snakes - and - ladders.
    Boys play prison, hand - ball and paper - chase.
