    was suspected of succouring pirates who caused great damage to merchant-trading with Ross and Waterford.
    1591. Edmond Yorke was appointed by the privy Council to take charge of Duncannon. The Council sent £5.00 for the completion of the fortifications.
    1591. Queen Elizabeth sent £5.00 for the completion of the works.
    1641. Town and Castle of Ramsgrange burned where rebels stationed themselves and were attacked by Lieutenant Trevisre who defeated them, burnt town and castle, took twenty prisoners who were afterwards hanged in Duncannon fort by Lord Esmonde.
