  1. There is an old castle in Nash. It is five hundred year's old. It is two hundred years since anybody lived in it. People named Roches of Clongeen were the last that lived in it. They built a dweling house near the castle and made a stable out of the castle. The castle is presently owned by Patrick Roche. Nash (townsland) Tintern (parish) Shelbourne (barony). There was a dungeon in this castle also and a tunnel going from the churchyard in Nash. There is said to be a man in prison for three years in the dungeon. One night he tried to escape through the tunnel he was caught and put to death or what reason it is not known.
    One night three men were comming through the village of Nash. One of the men said Good bye now I am going this way" He got over the ditch and listened to the others, They happened to talk of the bad life of the man that went over the ditch. The man said to himself "I will give them something to talk about" The two men went down to the church and went in, The other man followed and when the two men were inside he locked the door and took off his coat and walked
