Long ago there lived forty families in Ballymacroly, and now there are only two families in it. There are know ruins to be seen now. From this townland they all emigrated to foreign lands. There lived a doctor and his family in it. There is a corn mill in Ballymacroly and it was first built in 1014.
It is written in Columb Cilli's Prophecy that the water wheel of this mill will turn three times in human blood.
There is very good land in it, and there is a lot of wood growing in it.
