  1. Ballinderry is a small town-land near Moate in Co. Westmeath. Some years ago some American gentlemen from Harvard University came over to Ireland in search of antiquarian treasures. There was a large mound on some boggy land owned by my father. The gentlemen asked his permission to search it and after some digging they found many valuables chiefly a silver pin a chess-board, a sanctuary lamp, an old boat, animal bones and one human skull; that of a woman all of which were found beside an old house which sunk twenty feet from the surface.
