    There was an oaken dresser in nearly every house with rows and rows of pewter plates and wooden noggins.
    There was a spinning wheel and the girls used to weave linen and yarn. They did not spend their time reading novels or eyeling. They made their own clothes out of a rough material called drugget.
    They was a settle bed in almost every house.
    They had rushes dipped in fat for candles.
    Now the houses are made of stone and cement and roofed with slates.
    There are noggins in use but delph plates cups and saucers. There are no spinning wheels now.
    The women buy nearly all their clothes but they sometimes knit cardigans and jumpers. They wear artificial silk stockings and they spend a good deal of money on
