  1. Captain G.A. Rochford Boyd was the name of the landlord in Keel. He was looked upon as a very bad landlord. He evicted thirty two families in Quill on a Christmas morning and threw them out in the snow. He evicted the same number in Brennanstown on that morning. The landlord built houses for his workers and put the door to the back so that he would not see the women when he was passing. He would not allow the people to keep a cat.
    Mr. Malone was the name of the landlord in Killalee. He evicted one family because they refused to pay the rent. The same day one of their neighbours settled the rent for them and then the people took possession of their holding again. Some farms were sub-divided when people were getting married and they had no land
