  1. There is only one holy well in this district. It is situated in Peter Galvin's field in the townland of Donore.It is called St. David's Well. Every year on the 29th June people from the surrounding districts go to the well and they walk round it while they are reciting three rosaries.
    The well is there since St. David was on earth. It is not known when St. David was born, but he was a travelling monk and he spent some years in Donore. While he was there he got a church built near the well and the ruins of it are still to be seen. On a big stone on one of the walls it is written the year St. David was born and the year the church was built and the name of the man that built it.
    A lot of people go to the well to get cured of headaches, teeth-aches and rashes. When
