    A man named Mick Shields who lives in Ballinagore, was a great wrestler. He put a man ten feet up in the air. He won great fame and was never beaten. John Healy could walk to Dublin in sixty hours and carry a bag with sixty stone of potatoes in it, on his back. This man was also a great runner. He ran three miles in half an hour. Old Mick Farrell was a great runner either 100 yards or a long distance race. There is one very good boxer at the present time in Mullingar. His name is Cristy Cole. He is a native of Tyrellspass which is situated only a few miles from here. Sergeant Lipsith of Rathconrath won the weight-throwing in Streamstown at the sports. He was able to throw a 1/2 cwt 19 ft.
