- (continued from previous page)bricks would be dry enough they would be built into long narrow walls and covered with straw and bog sods to keep them dry this was called "Hacting". Some time in August when they would have enough bricks made they would be taken on horses carts, and built into a kiln the kilns were built into arches their bottoms being about 18 inches wide and the same height across the bottom.
They used to sell them to the local people and in the fair of Kinegad. Many old buildings are built with Derrymore bricks which were of high quality.
